Our History

Providence House was originally developed as an innovative concept to provide quality assisted living for elders of all socioeconomic backgrounds. Since opening in 2004, Providence House has grown into a wonderfully dynamic, diverse community serving seniors regardless of religion, nationality or ethnic background, socioecomonics or sexual orientation. It provides a continuum of care, a compassionate environment that enhances the quality of life and respect for individual dignity and choice. Within the Providence House campus, the continuum includes Assisted Living and Memory Care. The Providence House team is dedicated to providing high quality yet affordable senior housing and supportive services.

Providence House was built on the former St. John of God campus along with upscale condominiums (The Monarch and The Arbors); Brighton House, a rehabilitation and skilled nursing care center; Seton Manor, an HIV/AIDS residential facility and the Brian J. Honan Park. The entire campus was originally conceived and developed by a unique collaboration of the Boston Archdiocese Planning Office for Urban Affairs, Edward A. Fish Associates, and Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group.

Located in Brighton, Massachusetts and just minutes from Boston, Providence House, a welcoming community proudly offers assisted living and memory care to seniors from Allston, Brighton, Brookline, Cambridge, Dorchester, Chestnut Hill, Newton, Boston, Roslindale, Watertown, Framingham, Waltham and Greater Boston.
